I have a surprise for y'all, thanks to Curtiss King, Proteus' Spotlight now has a logo. The blog's logo is the same glorious crown as all of Curtiss King Productions logo, but will be accompanied with purple, instead of various colors. Keep your eyes out for this logo, for it will symbolize the blog.
For blog posts based on artists, I typically place one promotional artwork from the artist at the beginning of the post, but I figured no better way to introduce the new logo than to introduce it with some producers I truly swim with; consider it a Seal of Approval if you will. The Upperclassmen are young cats curating an incredible sound out of Tucson, Arizona. The Upperclassmen Hip-Hop crew consists of $KLZ, 1$T PLACE PRODUCTIONS, & BABB. I'm excited to hear more from the rising stars. I've blasted this "Esc. (Beats from $KLZ Vol. 1)" Tape for the past hour or so & I have to say, if these kids grow to be better than they already are, ah man, Hip-Hop is in for a treat. "Zone 17" is... wow.
"$KLZ, 1$T PLACE PRODUCTIONS, and BABB are the leaders of the Tucson AZ, hip-hop crew 'The Upperclassmen.' With a mixture of chill old school and hard new school trap/hip-hop sound the 18 year old producers/MCs started to stir the pot in 2015. Finishing the year with over 12K total plays on Youtube and Soundcloud. Not to mention that 2015 was also their first year putting out music. Which were a series of beat tapes from $KLZ and 1$T PLACE PRODUCTIONS named Humble Beginnings, '97 Shyt, A.T.M [At The Moment], and Mind Of $KLZ (Which you can find on their Soundcloud & Bandcamp accounts). This year in 2016 1$T PLACE PRODUCTIONS made some noise with his newly released beat tape "January 1st." Which pulled in over 6K plays in just the two months since its release. These guys are definitely a talented group of hard working artists who appreciate the art of hip hop. Everyone should definitely keep an eye out for these artists because this is only the beginning to their success in the music industry. Make sure to watch out for future collaborations with local and popular artists later in 2016. Also keep an eye out for their up and coming beat tape projects in 2016."
